Useful Info & Other Users’ Groups

Santa Barbara Computer Instructors/Consultants/Experts:

Dale Lowdermilk has compiled a list of Mac and PC computer instructors, consultants and experts in the Santa Barbara area. The list began with a small group of people Dale knew to be knowledgeable and helpful; others are added to the list by referral.

    Click this link for the most recent SB Experts list (PDF).

Other Users’ Groups & Resources:

Find Mac users' groups elsewhere with Apple's User Group Search. For help starting or leading a group, see the Apple User Groups page.

The Santa Barbara PC Users Group is an organization of computer users helping computer users, active in Santa Barbara since 1982. Their web site also has links to other users' groups.

What to do with your old computers:

The Computers for Families project provides computers, Internet access, and training for Santa Barbara County students whose families cannot afford them. Computers for Families appreciates donations of computers, and Yes, they're currently taking Macintoshes!

They can use:

  • Macintosh and Pentium computers (call for minimum requirements);
  • Keyboards, mice, power cords.
  • Cash donations (tax-deductible) and volunteer help are also appreciated.

For more information, call Computers for Families at 805-964-4711, ext. 5400.

The Share the Technology Online Computer Donation Database helps connect computer donors with schools and nonprofit organizations seeking donations throughout the U.S.
